Joyce Vickery is a classically trained composer who enjoys writing music for her King. She seeks to serve her local church in writing songs, hymns and instrumental music that declare the worth and wonder of our amazing God.
She is also a homeschooling mother of 8 amazing kids, and finds great joy in writing songs and hymns for the next generation. Several of her songs have been sung (with great gusto!) by her local children’s choir and Christian music education classes.
Joyce Vickery holds a BM in Musical Composition from Indiana University. She has studied hymnwriting with Matt Merker through the International Hymnwriting Collective, and is an alumni of the John Ness Beck Choral Composer’s Workshop, where she was mentored by Dan Forrest and Howard Helvey.
Joyce published her first choral anthem through Beckenhorst Press in collaboration with Dan Forrest, titled “Sing Your Maker Praise.” In 2021, Joyce Vickery was named winner of the ISC Christmas Carol Commission Competition for her original carol, “Gather Round the Holy Manger” (available now through GIA Publications). Her PsalmSong for children’s choir “Lovingly You Lead Me” is available now from Chorister’s Guild.
Her vision for Vickery Music is to serve and encourage you as you walk in worship. She writes custom hymn arrangements for churches, weddings, and also offers notation and editing counsel for beginner-intermediate composers.
